5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Well, I'm heading off to Carmax in a few hours to sell the Camry. I just couldn't get used to FWD. I ordered a 535i 3 weeks ago, and production was completed on Memorial Day. They'll be loading her on the boat soon, and she should hit the U.S. 2-3 weeks after that. I'll be picking her up at the Performance Center in SC in July.
I just wanted to say goodbye, and thanks to everyone for sharing all the information and opinions one could ever need for for our Toyoyas. I'll still be on TN as my wife owns a Yaris, and thanks to her consistently getting 36-37 MPG will probably keep it forever! Thanks again guys and take care!!!
Sorry to see someone who can write and spell leave the forum........
Good Luck.
+1
Sorry to see you go, but I know how the transition to a FWD car can be difficult to get used to (especially with the amount of torque steer the Gen6 V6s have). I was very close to getting the IS350 instead of the Camry for just this reason, but the money savings won out.
Good luck and have fun with the 535i! Hopefully you didn't get the "wonderful" iDrive....
I congrat him to the Bimmer and that is a nice ride....but I don't think getting adjusted to a FWD is the real reason. I drive FWD and RWD almost daily and have no issue. Torque steer only comes in play when you push it hard...and all what you go to do is hold om to the steering wheel...it only becomes important when you race, which nobody should do with a Camry.

See for me, I'd rather have some torque steer under heavy acceleration and be able to achieve 34MPG on the highway, versus having a RWD car that gets no more then 25MPG.
