Gen6 Any guide for taking headlight a part

I m planning to black house my headlights but don't know how to take the headlights apart. I've been searching around the forum and i found a guide for taking apart the headlights for a GEN 5, i was wondering if the GEN 6 is the same process...or is there a DIY guide already for a GEN 6 and missed it when searching on the forums. Thanks

its the same basic process. once you have the headlight off, decide if you're going to use a heat gun or an oven. Either way, make sure you remove the screws before you start. Just use the heating instructions from the other thread. Everything is the same.

BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN BAKING. DO NOT RUSH IT. It is better to wait longer than to have to wait even LONGER and having to get a replacement one.

When i did my honda accord i went to 350F for about 3-5 mins checking ever 2-3 mins. This worked well for me but make sure you are always checking on it. Ive seen many DIY tutorials with different temps and time, in the end its up to you so make sure you dont just slap it in for X amount of time because a thread said it.

I just did mine a couple of days ago. I should have done a DIY for gen6.
oven at around 250F, Make sure you take off all the screws and the black rubber seals. There is a little plastic cover on the corner that blocks a vent make sure you take that off too so that it doesn't melt because it's really soft plastic. I would say leave it in the oven for 10 min but you have to check it all the time. When you think it's hot enough, take it out and start prying and pulling (it's not easy) don't rush it thought. Pull and let the sealant separate and then pull more. if you think it wont go anymore, put it back in the oven for about 2 min and start prying and pulling more. the rest is easy. I did 2 light coats of plastic primer and 5 coats of rust-olium engine enamel gloss black heat resistant.

To put it back together put it back in the oven with the lens on, leave it in for about 5 min take it out and push in as much as you can and try to get the screws in as fast as you can to pull it together and seal it. I put sealant over the whole thing too before i put them back in the car.

If you need more info, just PM me

Just did mine, basically 95% same process involved as people have stated.
Dude, if you have the time, give yourself 2 days for the deal, so you can take your UNSTRESSED/NON-RUSHED time (between baking...careful removal...paint...paint...paint, drying time, silicone sealing, etc)- Before you know it, hours have passed

geoff already posted my diy.

i'd just like to add... be patient and clear out a whole day for this. low temps, in-n-out of the oven multiple times, and good sealing + extra sealant is the key.

btw, i used atv black silicone. r16 if i remember correctly.

Exactly, patience is key, because oven strengths vary. My oven is fairly new and pretty strong, so I started at 200 for 10 minutes as a starter and got no give in the glue. Restarted process at 250, preheated, then turn it off insert headlight for 10 minutes and it was perfect to handle and take apart with the glue loose enough. Better off starting low, and losing some time rather than a headlight lol

I used window and glass silicone sealer, there seem to be multiple options in that regard.

* I don't know about you guys, but this is a drag-on mod bec of the time'n'patience, but seriously makes ya proud when its done and you admire the work
