5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Thank you to those who helped me out along the way in the previous thread. It took 3 days of working on and off to complete the entire project. Overall I'm 110% satisfied. Best $300 I ever spent, and I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about it. For some reason it looks a LOT better in person than in the pics but eh...
and a pic of my busy ass dash just for the hell of it
next is a real aluminum dash kit, black leather shift knob, then I'll probably be done with interior upgrades.
I was about to say what the hell is all that gizmo on the top and looked at the bottom and saw the fare display and said to myself "ohhh...he's a taxi driver"
Leather looks pretty nice - like a two tone interior. Not feeling the cluttered dash and wheel cover though.
yea i know. The stickers and gadgets are for business purposes because the car is after all a taxi/personal car. When I'm done with driving a cab they will come off. I disagree on the steering wheel cover though. I like it there.

No problem on the wheel cover...you like it, that matters. But it now makes all sense - all the gadgets, warning stickers, and dark leather for your taxi business.
What is that amp looking box on the drivers side middle console for?
I do drive a cab but i'm not a "taxi driver." I'm a full-time student in the second year of my master's program. Cabbing is the perfect student job here because we get to completely make our own hours and we can pull in $1500 per week net.
in the city I live in we don't have to paint cabs yellow or put the company name on them. All we do is put a light on the roof that sticks on with magnets. Once you take the rooflight off it transforms into a normal car and you can never tell that it's used as a cab too.
The fact that my camry is used as a cab has made me love the camry that much more. It takes all the heavy abuse and beatings of a cab, gets driven about 1000 -1500km per week and never has any problems whatsoever.

amp looking box? I'm not sure.... the thing on the top with the green screen is the gps dispach system. Below that on the left is my tomtom and ipod and the thing on the bottom with the red is the taximeter.

+1 on the Camry being a cab because of its reliable.
Btw, nice job on the leather.

He was referring to the black box down at the bottom near the floor of the center console.
