Quick Rim Offset question

Hi guys,

I just bought 225-45-18 Yokohama Advan Sport tires and am in the process of finalizing my rims.

I'm getting 18x8's and wondering if a +35 ET will be OK. I have a choice of 35 or 45 - and according to a rim/tire calculator site, the +35 ET will stick out 15mm (0.6") further than OEM.

Is the 35ET OK? Although I suspect it is and is the better choice, I'm just looking for affirmation.

Thanks.

BTW, I'm getting the Konig Runaways in Hyper Gun Metal... Will post pics when it's done shortly.

Go for the +35 offset. That is exactly what I have for my front wheels and tires. 18x8 +35 offset with 225-45-18. The +45 offset is tucked-in too much.

Thanks guys - sounds like +35 is the way to go.

I'm being told I need a 73.1-60.1 hubring. Maybe a NOOB question, but what is this and what does it accomplish?

60.1 is the inner diameter (Toyota/Lexus hub bore all have 60.1)
73.1 is the outter diameter (In this case, your wheels have center bore of 73.1)
The hub centric rings primary job is to fill the gap between your aftermarket wheels and the car's wheel hub bore. 73.1 - 60.1 = 13.0 mm is the gap.
Why such gap? Because each vehichle manufacture wheel hub bore are difference, hence all Toyota/Lexus wheels are 60.1 mm so it will match the car hub bore exactly. Aftermarket wheels wants to sell their wheels to a wide market of car makers so they make a universal hub bore to fit as many vehicle as possible. That is why you need a hub centric rings.

Great explanation - thanks.

So I presume I would simply remove the rings when putting my stock 17's back on the vehicle for winter driving...

...keep them pressed into your wheel during that time. Often they fit snug and if together with your wheel don't get lost.

Correct. The hub centric ring is now part of your aftermarket rims.

When I put my rims away for storage, I use a little black tape to make sure the rings stay inside the wheel hub bore.

I just sold those rims last month.
The IS250/350 are 18x8 +45 Front and 18x8.5 +50mm According to Eddiefromcali, he used a 3mm spacer in the rear because it rubs a little bit but that because he has 255/40/18. If you put on 225/45/18 the front would look good and the rear would be a little stretch but the good thing is you won't rub because of the 225 is not as wide as the 255.
Bottomline, if you run 225/45/18 you will not need any spacer.
