Gen6 Need Your Opinion On Mud Flaps With the RK Sport Kit

I have seen quite a few cars on this forum with the RK Sport body kit. I am about to paint mine this weekend, and was thinking of painting a set of mud flaps along with it. Do you guys think that mud flaps would look good along with the body kit? I am talking about some real short ones, that would not stick too far down, past the kit. Of course I will make sure that the profile of the flaps conforms to that of the kit.

I have a silver 08 LE 4 Cyl.

Q1. Should I drop the idea of mud flaps all together?
Q2. Should I paint the fog lamp surrounds to match the body color?
Q3. Should I paint the lower grille to match the body color as well?

I think an all silver nose on the car would look good, but just can't quite imagine it, so your input will be much appreciated.

A1. Drop the idea.
A2. Take a look at Njerald's car. He painted his fog lamps surrounds then make your decision after you see it.
A3. Ask Mistabullet in the photoshop thread to photoshop for you before you do it.

1. No mud flaps
2. Personal taste. I don't think I would like it.
3. No on the lower grille.
If you want the all silver nose you should paint your fog light surrounds and bake your headlights and paint them silver also. Either way I think you should leave the lower grille alone.

Q1 - no - if you make them short and cut them to profile, they have no purpose anyway
Q2 - no - accent paint on the lil rips yes, all matching no
Q3 - no - can't imagine that it will look good, it will take away the details and look bald

I see your point, but how do you compare that to a black car, with the black lower grille and fog surrounds. IMO it doesn't look bald, or is that becuase its black?

Thanks...

I have that "issue" - and I am thinking how to accent the lower grille and fog lights a little bit w/o making it look cheesy or stand out too much. I like the clean look on mine but some of the details are lost in the all black look.

I don't want to use mesh grilles, maybe some chrome accents on the rips of the grille and fog housing only - not decided yet and not a big fan of too much chrome either. If you keep your grille and fog lights as is, you do not have that issue.

This is my old lower grille before I swapped out the E&G grille. I think the chrome strip in the lower grille would be a nice touch on your car.

Yes, that is what I am thinking about right now - found these on e-bay as well.

I also found all chrome housing for the fog lights - maybe too much chrome though?

lol, don't buy the chrome housing...that is way too much chrome (even for me! )
Also, don't buy the chrome strip on ebay but go to Autozone, Kragen, Pepboys or any autoparts stores to buy those chrome strip. Then just get a string to measue the length of the bottom grill then just cut out the chrome strip.....you just custom made your grille! That was how I did it.
Have fun modding.

I have the chrome trims on my upper and lower grille, as well as chrome surrounding on the fog lights.

"I have the chrome trims on my upper and lower grille, as well as chrome surrounding on the fog lights."

Now you make me thinking - chrome surroundings/outlines on fog lights and lower grille would match the XLE upper grille...

Sorry for side tracking that thread - hope it gives the OP some other ideas to accent his RKsport than color matched painting.
