5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
well a couple weeks ago my mom hit something on the freeway and cracked the front lip of my parents SE. my other baby got hurt.
we got it done this week and picked up the car wednesday. according to the guy at the body shop toyota doesnt sell the 07 lip anymore so they had to put on the 08 lip. what puzzles me is that the guy said the 07s lip is 1 piece while the 08s is a 3-piece. is this true? can anyone clarify this information? we got charged a little bit more than expected since toyota gave them the 08 lip instead.
I don't have an '08 parts list but if you look at autopartspeople.com the illustrations and prices for the 2008 parts are exactly the same as the 2007 parts. There may be something different but it can't be much.
I have not checked but if you want to replace the SE front lip you get more than one part number (lip, stripping, clips....) to do the job. Maybe that was what he referred to with "3 piece". But yeah, the SET has a real 3 piece front lip. ..would be funny if they replaced the OEM with an SET .
I have a 2009 SE , and as I washed it this morning the only 3 pieces I could see would be the lip itself and the 2 fog light inserts (black). otherwise my front lip is one piece.

Yes, the 07 and 08 lips are different. On 07 models the fog light surrounds came with the lip, on the 08 models, they are separate pieces. The 07 lip changes up to the 08+ style lip, and requires you to also get the inserts, because you obviously cannot use the ones from the 07 in the new lip.

It's a supercession. The 07 style lip is no longer available as a serviced part, you have to purchase the 08 style and the inserts. As I said in my previous post.
