hey guys, lately ive noticed my car seems to be engine braking more predominantly than before, requiring me to run at a slightly higher RPM to stay at speed. I just changed my tranny fluid hoping that this might make a difference, but to no avail. I also ran half a can of seafoam through the VSV but this didnt fix anything either. I changed my brakes/rotors not too long ago but i ruled this out because if i place it in neutral, the engine braking dissapears. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be causing this?

How exactly does running at a higher RPM change engine braking?
Your description isn't very clear/doesn't make sense.
Transmission fluid, SeaFoam cleaning, and brakes/rotors, wouldn't have any effect either.
sorry TRD, what im trying to say is, if my foot is off the gas, the car slows down by itself quicker than it normally has in the past. This is what i would call "engine braking". Therefore, to drive at a constant speed, say 30 mph, my RPM's would hover in the 2000 RPM range instead of 1500 RPM's. Make more sense?

Yep, that's easier to understand.
I notice that mine engine brakes much more when using the cruise control. Could that be what you're noticing?
If not, I'd have to say it's just an adaptive characteristic.

no, its not during the highway, its all city driving, between 0 and 40 mph.
im thinking i should pull the neg. and reset and let the car relearn my driving habits. ive noticed ive been taking a hit on gas mileage because of this.
