Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
My tread has officially reached 3/32 and 2/32 for rears and its time to get new tires. Any people buy online? What tire are you guys using to replace? Most places such as tire kingdom and tiresplus and sams club all are going around 130-200 + for tires. Thanks for any help!
I was shocked when I went to Sams Club and discovered that the OEMs were almost $200 each to replace. I only have 15k on my tires. How many miles are on yours that they need replacing?
I bought my tires from Discount Tire Direct. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/home.do
I got a great deal on a set of wheels and tired back in Dec '07. I didn't put them on the car until late March. Two of the tires failed road force balance when I had them checked. I called up DTD and they sent out two replacements that day. I didn't even buy their replacement certificates. With service like that they have earned my business.
I got a set of Falken Ziex ZE-912 in 225/45-18.

Currently at about 15k on the stock Toyos. I'm still trying to decide between the Falken 912s and the Kumho equivalents... Latest quote for me was $450 installed for the Falkens and the shop highly recommended them.

I've been very happy with the Falkens so far.

I got quoted $96.00 dollars for Falken ZE 912- One store stated that would be a great tire, the other stated it is to performance and would not ride well. OTD- 485.00
The other store thought i should get
SU05321557VPASSumitomo Touring LSV139.99
He would give me these for 125.00 and OTD at $615.00. I dont want to spend that much.
Other options they gave me were the
Yoko AS430 129.99 Michelin MXV4- 135.99
What do you guys think. I have been getting prices online and tiresplus and tirekingdom have been matching.
Out of curiosity, how loud are these tires while driving?

I know that the stock Toyos are awesome in rain or shine, though I don't know how they do in snow. Not sure about the Falkens as I don't know anyone with them. There has to be someone online with these tires with some input!

They are a little louder than stock. I did move up from a stock 16" Michelin to the 18" Falken.
They have been great in the rain. No hydroplaning or funny handling. They are adequate in the snow. I had them on for one snowstorm and the were OK. I don't think I would want to run them for the entire winter. If you have more than a few inches of snow per season in your area you should get snow tires.

The reviews that mansion snow say they don't do so well. I don't have much $ so can't have many type of tires. I need to rotate my OEM tires. Done it once when it was around 10K miles.. now it's 42K miles. Am I right that for the front wheel drive the rotation should only be switching the front the back wheel only (not the crisscross)?
i have falkens on my car and they are good for the price.
falken azenis st115.
the moment end of october comes, i switch them out to my snow tires. im not risking my ass at all, so i dont know how they handle in the snow since i got awesome winter tires on my stock wheels.
i'd just set aside my money for a better set of all seasons that can handle snow for those who don't have two sets of wheels. a good tire i've had experiences with was the Pirelli P-Zero Nero M/S. great year round tires. quite pricey though.
Just check my OEM tires.. they are Bridgestone Turanza EL400 and many reviews on tirerack.com say it's horrible. LOL I guess I don't drive aggressive enough to notice. Anyway, we do get a little snow here so need a decent tire that can run all year round in all weather condition including snow and ice. And also high mileage warranty. And the one right now that fit this requirement is the Yokohama V4s with 60K miles warranty.
