Slow throttle response??

08 Camry 2.4

I don't drive the car much, but I've noticed that when I mat the gas(all the way) there is a 1.5 second or so delay before the engine responds. This is the first car I've owned with the motor driven throttle body. Is this the reason for the delay, or is this not normal??

TSB-0068-08

2007 - 2009, 2AZ engine, 5AT and 5MT

supercedes TSB EG036-07

To enhance shifting performance and smoothness during acceleration, the ECM calibration has been revised.

Recalibrate ECM (PCM) Engine & Transmission - 0.9 hours

Print this out and give it to the service writer at your Toyota dealer. Worked for me.

(Njerald posted this along with other helpful info. He and some others on this forum, though, like to show off their Camry knowledge and often come across as twits.)

Thanks for the info everyone, I'll take it to the dealer. I'm used to a slight hesitation, but this is literally 2 seconds or so, the engine doesn't even kick in for the 2 seconds.

The only car that I have driven (practice) that respond right away is on a manual transmission.

MargesLimo, I believe that most automatic transmission sits in 2nd gear and mostly use 2nd gear as the lowest gear for normal driving. So when you press hard like that (not normal driving), the transmission have to shift to 1st gear which cause the delay.
