Component Speaker Placement help

Hi,

I have a 2004 Camry xle with the JBL sound package. Right now I have a Alpine headunit and JL w6 subs but I still have the stock front speakers in. I just bought Rockford Fosgate T162s Component speakers(6.5 mids, tweeters) and a JL 300/2 amp but I'm not sure where to put the tweeters to get the best sound. Should I put them in the dash which points stright up at the windshield or put them right next to the 6.5" where the old 6x9's went in the door or is there a completly different location where they should be put(no kickpanels please). Thanks

the way i have my components set up is i had custom baffles made that house both the woofer and the tweeter. i have the tweeters aimed up towards the opposite side seat. This position is great as its not too harsh and it also sets a good sound stage.

Most tweeter are placed in the front. I had mine placed in the door almost right at the arm rest and find that was a little too close.

and also to add, it is always better to keep the tweeter as close as possible to the woofer to prevent separation

+1 on what MrSoohoo said.

Placing the tweeters too high can cause harshness, especially if you aim them wrong.

Best to place them close to the mid to prevent separation and improve imaging. I have tweeter right next to the woofer also.
