Throttle Response

Hello Everyone,
I just purchased an '05 Camry LE V6 about two months ago, and love it so far. This is my first time visiting Toyota Nation and I can already tell there is a wealth of knowledge here!

I had a questions concerning what I believe to be a problem with my Throttle Position Sensor. I have to push my pedal down a bit for my car to being to accelerate, and if I left off the pedal a little, where my RPMs begin to drop, it seems as if the sensor is too far down, or it's positioning is off. It kind of hits a point where the RPMs are too low and it begins to engine brake, even though my pedal is still slightly depressed.

I'm not an expert mechanic, but I do have a decent amount of knowledge regarding cars, but I'm not sure if the throttle position sensor is the problem, or if it's something else. Does anyone have any suggestions? Feel free to ask more questions if you need additional clarification.

Thanks in advance for you help!

Might read the owners manual, thought these cars had an intelligent throttle system that adapts to the driver. Suppose the system can be reset to learn your driving habits but don't have this info.

No doubt other members can help.

As to the TPS, its position can be rotated on the throttle body, perhaps it needs adjusting.

Do you have an MIL? If not try resetting the computer.

I bought an '04 about 3 months ago and had similar problems. It has gotten much better so either I've adapted or it really has 'learned'. (Still don't like the idea of a computer controlling my throttle or steering.)

I'm not quite sure what a MIL is? Could you clarify a little more please?

If I don't have one, how would I reset the computer? Removing the battery for a period of time?

Thanks!

MIL is the same thing as a check engine light, and yes, that is how you would reset the computer in the car.
