Mystery Sound - Valves?
Hi, Everyone -
I am new to this forum and do not do my own maintenance or repairs. However, I do like to have some idea of what is going on or what I am talking about when I take my car in for maintenance and repairs.
My 2003 Camry has 51,000 miles on it. I took it in for service yesterday. In addition to general maintenance, they replaced the tensioner and drive belt because it was causing a frequent rattling noise.
However, I failed to mention a second noise to the service tech thinking it was related to the first. I am still noticing this noise and am thinking it may have something to do with the valves. It is intermittent during acceleration at various speeds. It is not very loud, so I wouldn't describe it as rattling or knocking. It is almost like a tapping sound or a bird-like twitter. I don't know if I am imagining this, but I seem to hear it more when the air conditioning is running. Is this the type of sound that might indicate the valves need adjusting? Thanks.
