Gen5 Someone hit my car and drove off. I'm PISSED! [Pics]

I washed my car last night and parked it on my street. I went down to my car this afternoon to this:

I called my insurance company and filed a claim. I expect this to be close to $1K (my reverse sensors alone will be $300+ to have reinstalled if the bumper needs to be removed and repainted like I think it will) which is outside of what I would consider reasonable to pay out of pocket, especially since this wasn't an at-fault accident. My deductible is $250 so I feel I am making the right decision in making a claim.

This really sucks. I know it could have been plenty worse but that's not much of a consolation . I guess I'll be without a car for however long it takes for them to fix it. If it's just for a weekend I can rent a car and if it's longer than that, thankfully I do have a car I can use.

Here's my baby during better times..

Damn, that sucks.

I hate people that don't take responsibility for their actions.

Yeah, bro...being that I'm speaking with you now in another thread, I feel your pain about this damage...I can't believe some ass clown just hit your ride and then just left -- no care to someone else's property. I hope you get it fixed soon.

I had to have a ding removed already in my new 08 SE because some jag off didn't give a rats ass about my ride; probably an SUV...so I know how u feel.

Thanks for listening to me guys.. I just needed to vent. It sucks because I'm extremely careful - like getting out and making sure to hang on to my door so it doesn't dent someone else's ride no matter new/old expensive/cheap.

I heard my alarm going off last night but it's fairly sensitive so I looked down at my car, saw a loud truck driving by, and figured that was it. I guess the truck actually hit my car. I didn't hear an impact so I thought nothing of it because it's been set off before by loud cars. Lesson learned: check my car regardless. Though, if the person is willing to drive away, they might be confrontational which I don't want. My life is more important than my car.

I think I'm going to park somewhere else along my street. Street parking sucks!

Yep, that sucks man, same thing happened to me, I am really careful with my car and the other day I scraped the front bumper in the parking lot... It's driving me nuts. I feel your pain bro.

Hope you get it fixed soon, good luck.

Sorry to hear that man, I had a similar problem with a large swipe on the right side of my car. There are 3 long white cuts on my rear passenger-side door. It really sucks when people don't take responsibility for their actions.

Oh man, I feel for everyone -- Even after a year or 2 I still wash my car every 2-3 weeks and wax every 2 car washes... it's over kill, but I had someone throw jamba juice at my car, then I had a dent on the trunk of my car and door of my car -- all this was done always in some crowded parking lot.

Sorry to hear man, I hope your bumpers get fixed well and at a reasonable price. Not only do you have to be frustrated with the damage, you have to find a reputable place to repair it... I hate that part of the work!

That's not major damage, but I do feel for you. At least the ass didn't cave in your whole trunk......

Good news.. I called my insurance company and I have an appointment to meet up with an adjuster. They're going to do an estimate and write me a check, and I can go anywhere I want to get it fixed. If I go to one of their "partner" body shops, the work is guaranteed. So I will probably do that, as the shop I have in mind partners up with them anyway. They do good work too.

We'll see how it turns out. So far, I am very happy. No "sorry, but you could have done the damage yourself" kind of things from my insurance company, just that they'll write me a check as soon as an adjuster can see the car.

EDIT: I wash and wax (Turtle Wax ICE synthetic wax/polish) my car every weekend and usually wash it mid-week because it's dirty from being parked on the street. My Camry may not be a $50K luxury car but it is MY car and I love it. Which is why this pisses me off so badly. Grr..

dude... that sucks.

One time, I had my car parked on the side of the street across from my bro's school and I went in to get him. I wasn't even gone for ten minutes, and when I came back, there was this long red scratch along my fender and driver side door. No one around was paying any attention, so no one saw what happened.. crappy deals...

Hopefully everything works out for you and you get your car fixed up man!
