5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm going to be going to the Auto Club Dragway on Saturday, July 19th (can't make July 12th because something came up). This is an NHRA-level quarter-mile drag strip in the city of Fontana, CA. Anyone interested in joining me?
I had to change the date to the 19th because I will not be in town on the 12th (something came up). Come on guys, there has to be someone else that wants to go!
The Camry (even in SE V6 form) is way too $hitty for the track. But you just might be able to test out all those airbags.
I obviously don't expect to hang with the Mustang GTs and Vipers of the crowd, but I thought it might be fun to see how the Camry compares with other cars. Personally, I think that the Camry V6 is pretty impressive seeing that it can do average 14.6 second quarter mile according to several major car reviews.... I don't know that many 2-doors (in a similar price range) that can pull that off!
By the way, I'm going to do two types of runs with the car. Two runs with everything, exactly as-is (including spare tire). The remaining one to two runs will be with everything non-essential removed that doesn't require serious unbolting. This will include the spare tire (and all the other crap that goes along with it) from the trunk, all floor mats, and whatever else I can think of. It probably won't make any real difference, but it is worth checking out anyway.
Im doing the same thing in Bakersfield. Just run it. Tru-dat it isnt a Porche or other high performance known sports car. They may run me with a Ford F-150. Im doing it for me. Just to get my official tape to hang in my garage. I only have a K&N drop-in air filter and not expecting to turn any big numbers at all. Just doin' it for me.
