2003 Camry le. The remote only open the driver’s door. Even the driver's and
pass side unlock buttons do not unlock all the doors. The unlock noise is present but the locks do not unlock. The remote will lock all the doors though.
Any suggestions would be great I don’t want to have to take it to the dealer. Thanks everybody.
Chris
Probably the motors. I have problems with my 1995 Ford Taurus. I dont have a remote that unlocks doors but my driver side door doesnt lock. When door is closed, I cant lock or unlock. But if I open the door wide enough, I can lock and unlock.
Either open up the door panels yourself and see what is wrong or take it to dealer/mechanic and have them checkout what is wrong.
Yeah I do have have a remote. It does not work either. I understand it could be a motor problem but 3 actuators going bad at the same exact time is a little to weird. I can't figure this out.
If you don't want to take it to the dealer and are knowledgable about cars, follow the troubleshooting/diagnosis procedures in your Service Manual and replace whatever part(s) are defective.
I can verify that it's not a purely mechanical issue. On my 03 Camry about 50% of the time the passenger doors will not unlock via the electrical system. This is either with the key fob or switches in the car. You can hear something actuate in the 3 doors but no movement of the lock is present. The driver side door shows no problems. Apparently this is a fairly common issue as it appears on the internet often although NO ONE has posted a reasonable fix or cause for the issue. Could someone who's had this problem please post a reason why it occurs?
My guesses are controller malfunction, electrical short (if the passenger doors are on a separate circuit than the drivers door), gremlins. I'm sadly not in a position to pay someone else to fix the problem so someone who's had this issue fixed posting the solution would be wonderful.
If the locks failed to work at the same time, it is likely not the individual solenoids. More likely up stream. Check the voltage at any of the questionable solenoids or apply voltage directly to a solenoid using a fused wire and see if it works.
