Roof Rubber, Drip, Rail...
Does anyone know if that black rubber on each side of the roof serves a purpose other than aesthetic purposes? Toyota calls it a: ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING. It has no glue under it as it appears to be held in by two clips at each end of the car. So my guess is it is for aesthetic purposes only and does not seal anything.
Mine was cut slightly longer on the left side from the factory and has a lump in it as a result. It is something a person who is anal about their car would notice [me], but none the less here I am asking. I am not sure if I should bother having the dealer replace it as things like this are sometimes best left alone.
Here is a diagram, the protective tape is so you do not destory your roof trying to remove it.
