5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have a 2003 Camry 4 cylinder and I added Sea Foam into the line that goes from the brake booster and now the check engine light is on.
Car is running great now.
Do I need an OBDII to clear the code (visit Autozone) or disconnecting the battery will do the trick ?
If I were you I would visit Autozone and have them read and clear the code. Write down the code. This way you will know what the code was for future reference. If you choose to just disconnect the battey, write down all your radio preset channels. They will be erased too and you will have to re-enter them after the battery is reconnected.

You just need to disconnect the negative battery cable. By doing so, you will clear the code and not have to reset the radio stations.
MIL is the correct term for the check engine light.
i seem to lose all my radio presets whenever i let any member of my country music loving family drive my car........

I had to reset everything when i just disconnected the negative one. Your breaking the circuit either way.
Leaving the positive cable connected will still power circuits not grounded through the battery cable itself.
A simple experiment you can try would be to hook up a multi-meter or test light to the positive battery cable and ground it to something other than the car itself. You'll still have power without using the battery ground.
