AC Whistling?

I have searched through the forum and no one seems to have this issue. I have a 2003 Toyota Camry 4 Cylinder. I am the sole and single owner. I had the engine replaced with a 2004 Camry engine due to oil sludge. This issue has persisted through both engines.

Occasionally my car will whistle.
  • It is brief and goes from a low pitch to a higher pitch.
  • It is loud inside the car, but barely audible outside with the hood up
  • It only happens the moment the compressor is engaged (or disengaged?)
  • Never happens when the AC is off.
  • If I turn off the AC or the car, after some use of the AC, the whistle is extended and sloooowly raises in pitch till it stops
  • Happens a lot more when I idle.
Any ideas? I am totally taking this to CarTalk just to give Click and Clack something to laugh about if it isn't a common issue.

Your help is appreciated.

On an a side note. I tried to access the repair manuals... no luck from the sticky posts. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Serpentine belt..........but you would definitely hear it with the hood open.

Does the sound change with different A/C fan speeds?

It is not affected by fan speed. The sound will occur even after I turn the car off.
