5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Decided to trade in the gas guzzler 06 Nissan Murano and bought a new Magnetic Gray 2009 Camry LE V6 from Carmax today, only had 12 miles on the odo meter. The MSRP is $26,199 but they're selling it for $22,728, not sure how good of a deal it is but from what I can recall it's cheaper than the 07 when they came out two years ago. Equipped with 16" alloy wheels, JBL 6 disc changer, carpet and stuff, kinda basic. Interior quality is much worst than my wife's 05 SE V6, but the tranny is very smooth and haven't notice any flare yet. Initially I was going to get the 08 Mazdaspeed3 instead, but after much debates I decided to stick with Toyota due to low maintenance (NA vs boost), reliability, higher resale value, and better mpg.
While I was at Carmax I test drove the I4 LE and thought maybe I could get away with a cheaper car, but the I4 is too weak for my taste. While I like the 09 SE V6 better but the $26988 price tag scared me so I decided to save $4260 and get the LE instead. LOL
So far the only thing that I don't like about this 09 LE V6 is the skinny steering wheel, it feels rough and not as comfortable as the weather-wrapped SE or XLE version, but a quick trip to Walmart and $14 later got me a genuine leather steering cover to make do for now. I'm going to do some research here on installing the fog lights myself as well.
I waxed it in the afternoon, and went out to do a few rounds of heat cycle on the new brakes tonight to ensure rotors being bedded properly, I'll do the first oil change at around 1000 miles in couple weeks. So far I'm pretty happy with this car, it's going to be my daily commuter and will be driven about 300 miles a week. By the way, I love the V6 powar!

Forgot to mention the production date of this car is 06/2008, the OEM tires Bridgestone Turanza EL400...from the tirerack reviews that I've seen they really sucks, I hope they wear out soon so I can put better tires on this car. And I'm still debating if I should upgrade the stereo system, I have a monoblock and 12" Elemental Design sub sitting around, I keep hearing the 6 Gen often squeak and rattle so I'm not sure if the dash and everything else would fall apart when the bass note hit!

thanks...glad to know I didn't get ripped off mine doesn't has the moonroof either, and wish I could delete the JBL 6 disc changer option, I would like to swap it out for aftermarket head unit...hehe. My first choice was the blue ribbon, it looks so darn sweet and classy....but a bit PITA to keep clean, water spots and dust are more apparent on the blue ribbon than on the magnetic gray. It was a great pressure to buy car at Carmax, didn't have to deal with any pressure from the salesman and they didn't try to promote those ripped off package deals like under car coating, premium warranty, and all that craps. I went to my local toyota dealer yesterday and they were trying to sell me an I4 LE for $21500 before tax and fees, and they kept pushing me to buy their "spill proof package" deal for seats for like $800, I heard we can get a can of that spray stuff from autopart store for couple bucks LOL
Oh yea, carmax inflated my tires to 40psi! but the manual clearly stated 30psi for our 16" so I dropped it down to 31psi instead.

Good purchase. The price you paid is about right with the options you listed. I personally use regular gas, not premium and that is all that is necessary according to the manual.
