5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
First, i would like to say sorry about the long review. Ok so i took the plunge and bought a navi unit off ebay. At first i was a little weary and reading reviews but i am glad i did it. I bought it from ebay from (sourceproviders). I bought it when ebay was having those 10 percent coupons so I saved some money. In all i payed about $700 shipped and that was an all in one 7 inch touchsccreen gps/dvd/tv tuner/ipod/cd/mp3 unit with reverse camera capabilities. It basically looks exactly like the roadwire/valor unit. Alternative aftermarket for the factory nav. And my car is a 2008 with non jbl. I just had single disc/mp3/cd player.
So i got the unit took some pics, installed it and well here is my review. For all that say that it sounds like some chines pos, well its not. I am happy with it and it works well and was completely plug and play. I posted the pics of night time and some of the install pics in the link. Unlike the other aftermarket units, this unit has the background/side buttons light up at night so you can see what you are doing. Also the unit has a usb port and an sd card port. Also you retain your steering wheel controls on this since there is a plug that plugs in the rear of the unit. Everything is provided. No splicing. Harness is included.
1. Navigation works great and its off a sd card which allows you to still listen to radio/cd's/mp3's and still navigate. It's accurate and works great. The gps antenna, I ran the antenna through the back of the unit into the glovebox and get full reception.
2. DVD Player is awesome. Can watch movies while car is in motion and they look great on the screen.
3. Radio is fine after learning all the buttons and looks and sounds great.
4. cd/mp3 is great no problems here.
5. ipod hookup. Havn't really experienced too much but my only gripe is when I hooked up my really old like 2nd gen ipod it wasn't compatible but when i hooked my friends newer video ipod it worked. so works good. I have the wire run from the back of the unit to the glovebox so i just can put the ipod in there.
6. Tv Tuner: havn't really tried it and also didn't buy the external antenna needed to receive the channels.
7. Stylus is cool and helps but the screen is touch screen so thats a great part of this unit. It also came with a cleaning cloth to wipe smudges. Really cool.
8. Reverse camera hookup. Havn't tried or hooked up reverse camera yet but it is compatable and will do so in future.
9. bluetooth. Synchs and works great with my phone.
Overall I am happy with this purchase and for the money you can't bea an all in one system. I talked to the guy and he is willing to do more sales and possibly a group buy. He also said if you mention my name he would be offering a discount of $10 dollars. Let me know or contact him through ebay. His email is sourceproviders@yahoo.com and his ebay user id is sourceproviders. Shipping took about 2 weeks to get in. Install took about 45 minutes. Truly plug and play.
Also***** when you install, you must unscrew the two screws on top of unit to get it to load dvd's/cd's ENJOY
Wow! Nice! Now let me put my ignorance on BLAST! Im going to use the search FIRST!!!!.... Before I ask the question. (((But let me whisper the question, "My 2009 SE with JBL, bluetooth on the steering is compatible or no?"))) Wait! Before someone give me the answer...let me go use search. But your system looks great and seems to perform great! Grats!

I'm guessing the ipod/mp3 player (i have a sony walkman) will sync thru the usb port, correct? does it also charge the player at the same time? also were you able to change tracks on the ipod thru the steering wheel buttons?
How is the bluetooth integration working for you? Once the setup is complete, when the phone rings, 1) would the caller show up on the screen? 2) Where is the mic installed? 3) Did you add any new steering controls? 4) Does it have hookup to play movies for the backseat?
Thanks in advance? I am so close to getting one now..
Very nice. You use the 10% coupon from eBay or you purchased using the MS Cashback. If you didnt use MS Cashback, you could of saved yourself another 20-25% off. But you'll have to wait for that money after 60 days.
I have the OEM Nav. Why cant Toyota allow people to select nav menus, etc while car in motion. Hopefully I can get Toyota to do something about this or get the override disc working.
This is exactly the kind of post I was looking for, thanks a lot for all the pictures and the review.
I was checking out sourceproviders and some other eBay Camry Nav sellers myself just a few days ago.
I'm thinking about getting one of these within the next couple of months. The fact that you said it only took 45 minutes to install is making me want it even more.
Would you mind posting a simple install overview if you have time? Thanks
Also, how is the navigation system/maps? And does it come with an iPod adapter and/or can you use the AUX input that comes with the Camry?
Thanks you all. I used the 10 % coupon since I didnt know of ms cashback and purchased the unit a little over 2 weeks ago. So i saved still a good amount of money. My maps came with the unit 1 gb sd card, but during the checkout I asked him what the total would be. I initially just bid on the item, i didn't do buy it now but i am sure we can work out a deal with him to get a flat rate price including maps and such.
Bluetooth mic is in the unit itself and is pretty good i might add. Refer to djkor's post. He hit everything. EH NICE!!
And my steering wheel doesn't have bluetooth controls.
