i have a yellow top optima battery on my gen 6 and it ties down perfect...u just need to use the spacer that comes on top of the battery when u buy it.
Spacer? You mean the top that comes with it? IF you mean that tray, then yes you should use it to give it that stock height, but you don't need it. I also have the red top, and its been about 1.5 years...i like it a lot..but i can tell its wearing down. I think its time for a fully discharge/charge cycle. LE05, did you already purchase the red top? IF not i would recommend a dry cell battery....much better start-ups IMO. You should look into odyssey batteries, they don't leak and have the great dry cell CCA properties.

thanks for the replies! yes, i guess thats what i mean... i just purchased it today so I wasn't sure if it came with a spacer/tray or not. if i'm not mistaken, odyssey batteries are far more expensive than the optima red tops... i don't quite have that big of a budget plus i haven't see any reverse terminal odyssey batteries, but i could be wrong. i'm not too inclined to have to extend battery cables just to make a battery fit though.

Just look at the specs....and if you know a bit about batteries...gel type batteries don't seem to last as long, and don't produce the same numbers as a non gel type battery. When running high output audio equipment, this is a must...i've had problems where i wouldn't run my car for liek 3 days...listen to my music for under 1 min..and my car wouldn't even turn over or barely get a click.
They claim to last twice as long. And battery is a reserve, not suppose to be the only supply especially when your equipment sucks electricity.
I use my yellow top for a little less than a year so can't really tell you. But I had listen to my music with the OEM JBL more than 5mins. I do experience power drain when rolling down 2 windows and when it hit bottom it draw even more power, but that was with the engine running so I can hear it cranking. I did the same without the engine running and the battery seem to handle it OK. Engine crank right up.
The Yellow Top is lighter and smaller than the OEM battery. So that help cut down the weight a little. But it is not as strong though. Strong enough to get the engine going. And just in case, I do have a jumper battery in the trunk.
^ ..you know the only reason i got the red top was due to the supposed great start ups. Unfortunately the start ups lacked a bit. But i guess my expectations were too high comparing a wet cell to a dry cell battery. I understand its a reserve...but when the electronic system is sucking more energy out, it needs to pull from somewhere correct? Therefore, some sort of amplification of power is needed to be given to the electronic system to power it properly. Furthermore, since nothing is really upgraded into my charging system except better grounding/charging wires, then is has has to pull from its starting source...the battery, and since the the CCA of the red top is lower than the oem cell, a difference can be noticed when starting up your car after periods of time when your car has not been driven or driven long enough for the charging system to be in effect.
I meant to look the other day, but I kept forgetting. Sorry.
you're forgiven.
anyways, to add to trdvvti's information- while searching for a redtop, you might run into a common size called "34/78" (or some shit like that) that claims to fit both 34 and 78...
don't get size 34/78. the posts are positioned in a way to accomodate for the 34 and 74, and therefore, the posts are a bit too far for the positive and negative clamps of the camry, but it will work with some force and creativity.
