This is only my second post. 2007 Camry 4 cyl. I had my oil changed by the dealer at 1,500 miles. Now I've hit 5,000 miles. The MAINT REQ. light never came on. The owners manual states the it should have come on at 4,500 miles. The light is working, as it comes on at start-up and then goes out. Is it because I did an oil change at 1,500 miles and it will come on at 6,500 miles, or is there is a problem ? I was hoping the light would come on at 5,000 miles so the dealer would change the oil and reset the light. Thanks for your help
How did the tech reset it @ 1500 if it only comes on at every 5k interval?
U can reset it at any time you want. You know how you have Trip A, and Trip B... imagine there is a Trip C and when trip C reach above 5K it will cause this light to turn on. So you can reset Trip C anytime you want and it'll go back to zero. And of cause it's not a regular trip so it has a special procedure to reset. I wish it'll show many miles U have left till 4.5K miles or how many miles U have gone since it's last reset.
If you not wiling to give the answer, just don't reply!
editealer reset the maint light. Being it usually comes in 5k interval, it should come on at around 6000-6500 miles
These types of threads are just clutter. There has been enough info covered for the OP to problem solve his question. New members need to learn how to use the search...and not just use it but use it properly. We are not here to reiterate topics that have been previously covered. We're not trying to be total pricks about it, but when these types of threads are brought up, it just clutters the forum. PLease learn to use the search tool, it really does help(you just got to spend the time looking), doing so we can then take pride in our forum for the main reason that we joined....to learn new things, not talk about the same information over and over again.

I dont need no stinkin' Maintenance light! Im glad mine 2002 doesnt have one of those stupid things. I hate them they are a pain in the AZZ to look at and reset. I just use "TRIP B" trip odometer to tell me when to change.
that light is nothing more then a built in sales tool to make you take your car in to dealer or even worse, Jiffy lube to have (probably incompetent) techs change your oil and/or any of the following: overfill same/underfill same/mangle your drain plug/or make i t so tight king kong couldnt remove it/screw something else up.
Anybody who needs a "Maintenance required" light to come on to tell them when to change the oil isnt going to have the car much longer than 100k anyway, cause it'll be worn out from inadequate maintenance.
