no the speed does go down while on cruise and going down a hill but its not that fast.. I was on cruise at 60 and it was downhill and the speed rose to 70 and then suddenly there was a great shift and the rpm's rised upto 4500. the noise from the engine was too loud in comparison to the normal sound... i had to brake hard to reduce the speed and the noise.

The cruise control is doing what it should to maintain the set speed. Don't like it, turn it off..........

Wheels will be a pain in the ass to clean.

I know cruise is supposed to retain the speed while climbing hill or or on a downhill but that should not be rough. it should be smooth as in other cars. I am just asking why the best car can't be smooth on a cruise?

Although I reside in Flushing, I'm in LI about 2-3 times a week. Usually in the Brentwood area.

Inherent Toyota cruise control. I'm on my 3rd Toyota (Tundra, Highlander, Camry), my brother is on his 4th (Camry, Camry, Tacoma, Corolla), and all of them have done this. Toyota can make a good car, but they really need to see Honda for how to make a good cruise control.

It sucks. I rarely use cruise control now (where in other vehicles I have owned I used it a lot). The only time it is effective is on fairly level roads.

I thought this was laughable - "The cruise control is doing what it should to maintain the set speed. Don't like it, turn it off.........." I guess that means if the radio blows a speaker, we should just turn it off? If something sucks about a Toyota, it's OK to talk about it, really.

Reality is a bitch, sometimes.

Yep. I clicked shifter over out of overdrive and it was still gaining speed, had to push brake pretty hard. My 07 Trix doesnt do that. I hit the button on side of shifter it slows. Or if usin cruise it keeps rite at speed. Might be taken it back to get something else, only month old. Wife is good driver but that is dangerous. Scared me.

Cant tell you that they did a TSB but they did flash the firmware to the newest and it is amazing. For the times I have driven my wifes Camry I dont even feel it shift. Going up a steep hill it shifted out of overdrive and back into overdrive and I had to consentrate to notice it.

Now my 08 Taco is a different story. Tried to get something done with it cause it acts crazy in the hills but they said there was no update for it.
