05 Camry To Buy or Not to Buy....that is the question.

New to the forum....so hello to all. I am very close to buying a 2005 Camry XLS V6 with about 22K miles. Any issues I should be aware of before I pull the trigger? I have heard about sludge and/or head gasket problems with the V6...any light on the subject? It's this or a 2007 Ford Fusion....and pros/cons from the peanut gallery?

I have a vey qualified mechanic to look it over before I purchase but wanted to check here first before investing in him to look at it.

Thanks and hello again!

buy it (depending on the price)......It's a Toyota, the best Gen, and why would you buy a Ford? lol

Never had any sludge or head gasket problems on mine. When your mechanic looks it over, check the EGR Valve and water pump...it still has low miles, but just get them to check it. Mine went out at just under 90k (Egr valve, water pump was fine, but replaced it anyway, was due to be done at 100k anyway)

Welcome to TN

take care of the car and it'll last well over 200k, unlike the Ford

You're information is incorrect. There isn't any sludge problems with the V6.

The Gen 5.5 Camry is a great car. It's very dependable. Maintenance is the key to keeping that dependability. That shouldn't be a problem though, because you won't be spending money on repairs.
