Struts Preference

Im needing new struts. I have read many threads on here but Im not looking for a bumpy ride. So Coil overs are out. Need more comfort than performance. But I don't like the stock suspension now or when it was newer. Car just flipped 100,000. And the ride is bouncy. What is a good brand to go with? Also should the springs need changed too? Also where is a good place to buy them?

struts usually go out at 100K.
springs are good for the life of the car usually.

to be honest, coilovers are not bouncy at all. set it to the softest settings, and you should be fine...

What about with precious cargo? 4 year old and a new born? Still be a good ride?

If so, which brand?

Don't overlook the obvious original equipment from Toyota. You can mail order them for much less than across the counter. Beyond that, take a look at Monroe Sensa Trac. Still might not be what you are looking for, but it will start your research.

Don't get coils......especially with a baby and a lil one....too harsh of a ride.

if you have a kid -- stick with OEM all the way -- cheaper than after market and gives the ride back to when you first got it.

Kyb-GR2's are okay, if you don't lower your car those are 1 up from oem as in stiffness, but you won't notice unless you're lowered. Even then it's barely noticeable.

I would recommend that you get the OEM SE struts.

Struts don't typically fail at a certain mileage as stated above. Are yours leaking, or have they been?

If you bounce the front and rear of the vehicle how many times does it continue to bounce?

I would say 3. It doesn't have that quick bounce back that it used too.
Now thats going over a bump, not jumping on the bumper.

who makes OEM SE struts? If they are stiffer than KYB's then I might go change them as well... Either that or i'm going to save up and get the coil overs.

Then you're right. You need new struts.
