transmission flare

I'm new to this so if i'm asking about something that's already been covered please set me straight. Wondering if anyone is still having shift flare problems on their XLE-V6. Ours is a 2007 had the tranmission replaced soon after getting it but still having same problrms. Just looking for any information that might lead to a fix.
Thanks

Yep, you're new. Read the "Newbies please read before posting!" sticky at the top of the forum. It explains the search feature and how to use it.

Using the search function instead of starting another thread about a topic that has been covered numerous times will help keep the forum from getting cluttered with useless threads.

Welcome to TN.

As a newbie I checked the "Newbies Please Read this" and I didn't see anything regarding a transmission flare on the 2006 Camry LE 4-cylinder. My car has 88k and has suffered from a flare on the upshift for at least the past 40k miles. It is especially bad when the car is hot and has been driven all day (approx 200-300miles). The dealer said there was nothing wrong with the transmission and there were no TSB's.

Does anyone else have a problem with the 4-cylinder 2006 automatic?

Any solutions???

For the original poster: New TSB for 6-Spd Transmission flare
It's in the Sticky: General Gen 6 Info.

As for the question above regarding the 4 cylinder flare... You have a few options:
As your car has gone well beyond the 60K mile powertrain warranty, you will have some trouble. If you want the dealer to fix it under warranty, or without charge, you'll have to prove that the condition existed before the 60K mile warranty expired. (Multiple receipts showing that you have tried to have the dealer fix it before the warranty expired) You might be out of luck because you waited so long. (28K miles out of warranty)

That said, your options: (most likely a combination of 2,3 and 4)

1) Live with it. (probably not what you wanted to hear, but it is an option)
2) Try a different dealer.
3) Insist that the mechanic or service writer "ride along" so you can demonstrate the flare.
4) Call Toyota's Consumer complain line, or ask to speak with the dealership's service manager, or go up the chain of command until you exhaust all options.

Thanks for the advise. The good news is that the car was purchased with an extended warranty good til 100,000 miles.

I'm on my second transmission so far. This one has also started to flare.

I'm looking at selling the Camry soon for a new Matrix AWD instead. I'll be out of the new car warranty anyway in just about 12000km. My Camry has been the single most problematic vehicle ever recorded in my family's history. I can only imagine what will happen once I have to start shelling out for all the repairs.

Winter is damn long here in Toronto, Canada and I travel a lot up north to the cottage, too. Even with Michelin X-Ice tires, the Camry has a very hard time in behaving well in the winter.

Our Mercedes SUV with all-seasons does 10X better.
