JBL Stereo and Wood Trim

I am in the process of buying a 2005 Camry XLE V6. There are two that I am looking at that seem to be equipped exactly the same. I am confused by the radio and dash. I have seen some that have wood trim around the radio and some that do not but have the wood trim elsewhere. They all seem very similarly equipped. The only thing that I can think of is that the ones that have the wood trim around the radio have the JBL premium radio and the one's that don't have the standard radio but the radios look the same to me. Can somebody please clarify.

If it's any help...I have an 02 XLE V6 with the JBL premium radio, (6 disc changer) without the wood trim surrounding it.

Check to see if one radio has a 6 disc changer and the other not. Also, the premium radio comes with an amp stashed behind the right side of the glove box, you should be able to see it if you open the glove box. Other than that, just listen to the two and see if one sounds like it has more power. If you find a difference, then maybe you've figured it out. You could also just call a Toyota dealership and ask them.

The JBL system would also have a JBL label on the head unit.

BTW, my JBL radio does not have the 6 disc changer.

I owned 2 '05 XLE V6's prior to getting my '07 XLE V6 and both the '05's came with the JBL system. According to the original brochure all V6 XLE's came with JBL standard. As for your question regarding the wood trim. One of my '05's had the wood trim and one did not. I purchased both of mine new. The one that had the additional wood trim showed on the window sticker an additional charge if I remember of something like $250 for the trim kit. I am sure a dealer could install the extra wood kit as well but in my case it was a factory installed option and I am sure not a lot of people would have paid extra to get it but I think it makes a nice addition to the dash if you can get it. Hope this helps.

Think I figured it out. Even the dealers didn't know for sure. Best answer I could get is that it was an option to add the wood trim around the radio but yet some came with it and some didn't. It apparanetly doesn't have anything to do with which radio was in the car. (If I am not mistaken, all the XLE V6's had the upgraded JBL) I agree with Mrcarnut........I like the additional wood around the radio.

Thanks all

IIRC, all XLE's have a digital heating/AC setup.

but not all XLE have that upper wood trim surrounding the radio. that minor bit is definitely a dealer accessory.
