Gen6 Did you take your resonator out?

I am looking to make my wife's car quieter. It's a V6 too (not Toyota) and I added a dual magnaflow exhaust similar to the axle back setup I have on my Gen6. But the car is much louder (but real nice, deep) and I need to quiet it down some. I looked at the OEM resonator and it is only a little wimpy can...nothing compared to the big Gen6 resonator. In short of trying a vibrant resonator, I was wondering if one of you guys who removed the stock resonator would like to sell it to me? Or..any better, simple method of getting it quieter w/o loosing the advantage of the magnaflow setup? Any sugestions are welcome including experience with vibrant?

thx

How do they work? Do they really quieten the sound? I tried to add a cheap/standard resonator from a muffler shop and it did do nothing to dampen the sound.

Thanks for the tip, but that is the lower intake resonator. I am looking for the exhaust resonator between cat and mufflers.

that one is an 04 sebring convertible GTC V6 2.7l....I just hate to rip the dual magnaflow out again. Being it a convertible, I admit it is a bit too loud for cruising. The magnaflow sound is muuuch more pronounced than on our camry.

Here is a pic...on a rainy day.

you don't NEED a gen6 resonator... you just need to get any universal glasspack... visit your local muffler shop, they should have resonators in stock

Tried that with little success - at least the once I tested (and welded in place to do so). The Gen6 is simply the largest resonator I have seen and one of the only cars, which is still very quiet even after putting magnaflows on ditto I want to try that next.

If you have a specific resonator, which you know works very well - I would love to hear.

I researched also and even vibrant resonators, CC chemistry with the disk inserts etc, which are praised for being one of the best, still don't do much for the loudness - just a lil bit. I have not tried a long 22/4" dynomax or a 22/4" magnaflow...but I think they are also performance oriented and will not give me what I need.

I had to use the shorter, 6" round SS series (12615) and added some 3x4" oval, polished stainless steel tips. I also painted the muffler and all piping black for a better look. I had to use the short and round once as I went from single to dual and on the left side only these fitted nicely. I did not want to have the tip stick out (therefore short can) or have it very visible from the side. Looks good and I would swap the sound with my magnaflow'ed Camry sound anytime ...if I could. It's just too "masculine" for my wife when she is cruising with the top down.
