Hard start when it's hot outside

07 v6 xle 18k miles. when it sits in the sun for 2+ hours it has a hard time starting. 3-4 times before it has a normal idle. This is on 90+ degree days when car is in the sun. Garage parking on hot days it is fine. The search function kept erroring out. Any ides?

Well, first it shouldn't be a problem with such low mileage but you might not be driving it much. The cheap fix would be to add a couple containers of gas treatment and drive some of it through. Sounds like it might be related to fuel pressure--perhaps low pressure allowing it to vaporize in the heat. If it doesn't fix it then hit the dealer.

Cold air intake sensor getting dirty. Just go to auto part store to purchase air sensor cleaner. Remove part, spray it and rescrew sensor back.

You should see your problem disappear.

I would let the dealer deal with it. Even is they say they could not find any problem, it is noted on your file if it continues to persist past your warranty period.

OK I'll try a can of BG44K and see what happens. Normal operation for the car is a 7 mile trip morning and night to the Metro station but I did just go on a 800 mile RT (33.4+ MPG 70MPH w/AC and cruise) earlier in the month.
