The Yokohamas have a 400 tread wear rating while the Proxes have a 300 treadwear rating. So I'm thinking about getting the Yokohamas myself.

The tire companies are the one who stamp that number on there. How much weight can you put on the tread-wear rating? I've owned Proxes before and were great handling and wearing tire.

Working at a dealership I see alot tires and most last just like the ratings when they are properly treated.. tire rotation etc.

I had Toyo Proxes 4 on 3 cars and now sport Toyo Proxes T1R - love them.

I had many brand tires before to compare and within their category and price range, the toyo do very well.

Thats right you moved to FL and so the T1Rs work great for you.

That's right akira - summer tires all year long . Love that.

The proxes 4 can take a bit more cold...but still would not recommend them for ANY winter, really not. Always switched to either Bridgestone Blizzaks or Michelin Wintersport.

i found the toyo's and rims as a combo for 170 cheaper than at the one place. too bad most tire places around here don't carry yokohama avid w4s. they do look like they will be a bitch to clean but i like em. the toyos and those rims for $1420 installed at a place in long beach
