Serpentine Belt - 35 bucks?

2002 camry - 4 cyl.

I paid $37 (incl tax) at the dealer for the OEM serpentine belt.

Is it the right price?

What kind / size of wrench is needed to push down the tensioner?

That's about right, I think! I paid $33 for my wife Celica from Napa.

Shoulda gone with a Goodyear Gatorback, it's cheaper and quieter than the OEM belt.

Your local dealer will probably match whatever the total is for the discount pricing + shipping.

Sounds high. Local dealer had it for about $23 when I bought one.

not sure if my old one is due for change.

If I look closely there are some very fine cracks on the rib side.

Makes chirping kind of noise esp when it rains outside.

The goodyear gatorback comes with either a 1 or 2 year warranty, and nobody knows rubber like goodyear...If you youtube "serpentine belt noise" there are classic examples of serp belt squeak. I actually didn't realize mine needed replacement until I went to get an alignment and they wanted $125 to replace the belt!

Is your belt original? If so, its squealing is probably a good sign that it might be nearing the end of its useful life. IMO, it's better to replace it than get stuck on the side of the road if/when it finally snaps. How many miles are on your car BTW? Just curious.

70K miles. 2002 Camry. Got it certified used back at 48K. Been chirping since 50 K whenever it rains.
The outer flat surface is somewhat shiny.

Once when I went to the dealer he said it needs to be changed and wanted 140 bucks.

The V6 takes two belts, not the same as a 4 cylinder; one for the power steering and one for the A/C and alternator.
