The short ram intake will suck in hot engine compartment air which will probably cost you power in real world circumstances. That was a waste of money.

I cant imagine the air in an engine compartment is much hotter than exterior temp (sometimes). If the cars moving there's air flow into the compartment. It's not the coolest air but you take into consideration the pipes surface thickness, and ability to resist heat soak. I just can't believe you'd lose hp over stock with a SRI. I know with Most Cold Air systems you might gain 5 hp over a SRI and thats on a good cool day. Anyway good luck with your project hope things work out. It's important you ask question but when it comes down to it. Do what you want it's your car you pay for it and you can never impress everyone.

Gen5

not entiiiirely true bout the intake.
1. it's not a waste of money
2. there is a power differnece, but very-very! minimal.
what do you expect. it's a camry.
3. it'll sound niiiice! especially with urr magnaflow setup.

good luck modding.
post pics when you can.

I bought my intake -- and to be honest, the only time it's bad it's when it's about 90 deg's outside and you're car is sitting there. The first few seconds it's bad, but once you get going, you feel very little gain.

i'm going to have my car dyno'd once I get some heat shields for the intake arm. That should keep the metallic arm from getting too hot, plus if you take out the original reservoir you should have extra cool air come inward without diverting it downward to the old resonator.

Yup, there is no or little difference in power. The heat shield helps alot, but I have also diverted the air scoop towards the intake filter closer so I can get more cool air to it more efficiently. I'm also building a custom air box for the intake so that I can maximize efficiency. As for the sound, it's loud. That's all I can say, but my mileage has increased by 9% though. Power gain, probably no more than .5-1hp increase. It's quite noticeable once I reach 4500rpm, the car just accelerates a bit faster after that and it didn't when I had a performance air filter.

Thanks for the intake again DNA.

^ he has a crapload more experience than any of us -- I'd listen a bit, and tread lightly. I took a lot of his advice, but also took my own road.

much respect to TRD

As for TRD, respect for the man since he's the one that has the most experience with parts.
