5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I picked up my 09 Camry a week ago and has about 2000 kms already
I'm noticing that while on highway - the car seems to go towards left. However, while driving on city - car drives in straight. Do you guys think this needs an alignment?
Are alignment and wheel balance covered under warranty?
If Toyota service finds out that there is no need for an alignment and balance - will they charge me?
I think you are covered. An initial alignment at this early stage of the car's life should be.
BUT
Yours sounds like a very minimal pull and may just be due to a few pounds of air difference in the tires. Check the tires with a GOOD gage and make sure they are correctly inflated (and the same from right to left). Once that is done, I'd go drive it on several types of roadways to see if what you are experiencing is just the car reacting to the road... or some sort of alignment issue.
Thanks Zembonez. I've actually used digital tire gauge and kept tire pressure to 34.5 to all tires. Manufacture suggests 32 psi but I inflated a little more to get possible better mileage.
If it is small...keep in mind that many highways have some slight tilt making the car drift to the low side. You can always ask the dealer to check the alignment, but make sure you use a very even street to test if it is pulling. Also, you don't need to drive fast to test that - it also should show up at low speed, not just highway. So, if it goes straight when rolling at 30 on an even street...it's probably some of the other reasons brought up above.
Tire pulls don't go away. They're consistantly there.
So now you are claiming to be a tire expert? I had the same condition, tires replaced, problem solved! Perhaps you should write a column about car repair for the Charlotte O because you are the smartest person on the face of the earth.

Actually, I used to work for MAST a long time ago. I had extensive training with them. I also went through training for Good Year also.
I wasn't claiming to be the smartest person on the earth. You really need to quit trolling like marc780's other usernames (TRD_EarBanger and DressUpYourPet). Notice that they have been banned.
I don't know what your problem is, but if you can't handle someone posting their knowledge to help other people out, maybe you shouldn't post at all. That would actually be much more helpful than the trolling that you frequently do.
Thanks everyone guys - looks like the swerve was because of the road. I'm in Toronto and on HWY 401 the swerve was noticeable. However, in any city streets - the car drives quite straight.
Today I went to HWY 400 and car drove straight. So looks like swerve was because of the road.
Still debating if I should take the car to the dealer anyway for a double check!

NOW you're starting to get too anal. If it drove fine... go enjoy your excellent vehicle until it actually needs something. You'll be wound up much less... and your dealer will thank you.

No, I have not notice that they have been "Banned". What was the reason?
What is MAST and do you hold a certification of some type related to recent tire R&D?
The zone manager for Michelin correctly recognized my problem as radial tire pull and replaced them.
W95C whinning idiot, but at least I am not a "Jack of all trades and a Master of none".

No, why would you? What would you want to tell them: My car is pulling on uneven roads but on even road it is just fine. Please, can you check that?
If you are still concerned - wait for your next regular service visit and tell them to include to check that.
