Gen6 trd springs dealership install...?

Do i have to get them installed at toyota for it not to void the warranty or can i install the springs outside and still be covered by that warranty?... I have a great connection at Palm Beach Toyota and can get them dirty cheap along with the exhaust but the dealership will R.I.P me a new one if i get the job done with them...

Thank You

My understanding is that you need to get these installed at the dealership in order to be covered under warranty. At least, that is what two dealerships told me (but they could have been misinformed or lying).

As far as I know you will not have to have it installed at the dealer...but it certainly is much better re warranty. I had to replace my left front strut assembly already. They questioned me about the TRD install and I showed them the evidence that it was installed by the dealer - no more questions and all my work and labor was covered under warranty w/o any issue. In my mind, if you can spare the money (I paid around $300 incl alignment) now it saves a lot of potential trouble later.

My understanding was that they had to be professionally installed. Why not just buy another brand of spring that is covered by there warranty.

...than your springs are warranted but Toyota will not pay for repairs they can blame the springs for. That's the entire point.

Oh ok. Seems like the dealers are charging way to much for spring installs though.

This is staight out of the TRD Catalog.

TRD SPORT PARTS NOT INSTALLED BY A DEALER
TRD Sport Parts installed by anyone other than an authorized Toyota
or Scion dealer are warranted for 12 months or 12,000 miles from
the date of purchase only and the warranty coverage is limited to the
replacement value of the TRD Sport Part. Superchargers carry the
same coverage.
This warranty does not cover maintenance services such as replacement
of brake pads/linings and clutch linings. This warranty does not cover
noise, vibration, cosmetic conditions and other deterioration caused
by normal wear and tear. Part failure caused by improper installation
by anyone other than an authorized Toyota or Scion dealer may void
the TRD Sport Part warranty, the new vehicle warranty or both.
TRD customers are responsible for ensuring that the use of any TRD
Sport Part complies with all applicable federal, state or local laws,
regulations and ordinances.

What did they quote you? Should be a standard charge. I paid $650 including springs, installment, and alignment + tax. Figure $270 for the springs and $80 for the alignment, comes up to ~$300 for the install before tax.
