5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
of course but so is not having a visible license plate, limo tint on front windows, hid's to some cases, neons turned on while driving. but people do these things anyway and get away with it.
but the cool thing about this is that you can remove it which could prevent a ticket.
of course do it at your own risk.
they also offer tinting for taillights. so people like me with a silver camry can see how it looks without spending hundreds to find out.

Limo tint is for the safety of officers. If you have limo tint, officers dont know if you have a weapon pointing at them or what. Why you think at night, they have a spot light shining into your car? So they can see movement inside. Those other stuff such as visible plates, neons are not as serious as tinting headlights. HIDs are illegal depending how its done and how its used. You rarely hear or read stories of people getting tickets for the HID. Why? Cops cant tell a difference between factory and aftermarket. If the HIDs are blinding people even to cops, they'll ticket you. Tinting headlights affect the brightness of the headlights. Why you think all headlights are clear for a reason?
Yea, you can remove it but you have it on there and you get pulled over, thats a $100+ ticket. Dont remove and get another...thats another $100+. If you do remove it, you just wasted $40 on crap.
I'm all for modding but to a certain extent. Somethings you can modify and some things should just be left alone. When it comes to safety and visibility, thats one thing you should not modify. I thought about tinting my headlights to match my taillights but its not worth it. Even if its a slight tint at like 35-50%. I dont think anyone here has a tint on their headlights for street use. If it was for show purposes, I see no problem with that. Its bad enough people complain about stock OEM headlights being too dim and getting HID or retrofits for brighter lights. By putting tints on, you're just taking 20 steps back and making it worse than stock headlights.
If you want to tint your taillights, search for the user bluebatmobile or his threads. He sells overlays/vinyls. You can even check out his site http://www.bluebatmobile.net. There are numerous people who bought his product on this forum and can vouch for the product.

+1 I have the 3M clear film/vinyl on my headlights for protection because I don't want to risk my retrofit against rock and debris.

I would protect too. Wish I had the skills or the resource to do a retrofit. I'm not handy with my hands when it comes to modding or anything that requires electrical work.
I wanted to get clear bra on the Camry cuz I already got 3 paint chips but the place that does tints and carries the 3M wants $750! =(
Does the headlight even shine through those? Its not illegal to sell but to use them it is. A company can make and sell them but its the buyers responsibility on how the use it.
I wish these things were like a two way mirror. tinted on the outside..but underneath the film, its normal and no tint so it doesnt affect the output of the light.
