JBL or not

I am looking at getting an 09 SE and was wondering if it would be better to get an aftermarket dual din nav/headunit/speakers vs the jbl/nav setup. is there an advantage over the factory unit?cost would seem to equal.

Depending on which aftermarket unit. I have 09 SE and I have OEM JBL/Nav. There were threads on aftermarket headunits that look like the OEM. There were some disappointments, glitches and problems with them. I say, get OEM and burn a Override Hybrid disc (search for more info on this). If you get a unit like Eclipse or a well known name brand, I dont think you'll have a problem but to the right and left of it would be plain. Plus, you'll have to spend extra to upgrade speakers.

Many discussions about that. If you want to go high-end, buy an aftermarket system. If you want a decent setup at a value cost - take the OEM JBL. At $700 you will hardly find a professional installed aftermarket system with JBL features, amp, speaker, bluetooth etc. It's not top end by far, but very good for $700 extra.

the jbl nav is closer to 2k. i m guessing you can get a nice nav unit for 1k but then you had in the sub and extras and thats where it adds up.

Yea, if you're looking at MSRP price.

What you should be looking at is the price of the car with and without JBL/Nav. From there, see how much it would cost for aftermarket. Are you an audiophile?

Seriously, the Nav is a nav. Only complaint is not being able to use the nav while in motion. But with an override disc, that will fix the problem. if you're not an audiophile, the JBL speakers will do just fine. It thumps, it pumps and it sounds great. Aftermarket units play DVDs. Its illegal to have it anyways.

Gen6

It's $705 for the Bluetooth, Amplifier, Upgraded speakers and 6 disc head unit.

Add $1,050 for the NAV on top of that.

I have a XLE and I guess it comes with the JBL sound system, and the Navigation was $1200. I think it sound great, I prefer a factory system, but I not too impressed with the factory satellite radio interface, it is disappointing that they append the artist/ song info and the antenna placement (inside behind rearview mirror) does not give you the best reception, I get some 1 -2 seconds of silence when I go under an overpass or if I am under some trees.
