Steering wheel radio control

I recently bought a 05 Camry SE. It has the radio control on the steering wheel but did not work. The dealer checked the wiring and found that no wiring existed between the radio and the spiral harness - he claims that the controls were probably an add-on done by the previous owner. Checking with another dealer he said that it was not worth adding the harness as the radio might not be commpatible. Can anyone provide some clarifications: are the radios all with the right connections? Can one add a wiring harness betwwen the radio and the spiral harness around the steering whee? And what would this cost?

The steering wheel audio controls are stock. I'm guessing your head unit may be aftermarket, and so the steering wheel controls don't work anymore. Am I right with your HU being changed?

They were stock in the USA, maybe not in Canada..

See your dealer to buy the harness.
