interesting idea.. definitely need to cover up the gaps to make it look clean.. what did you make the box out of? and how did you get the right curvatures? this could work the same way with a sub.. that would be pretty cool..
sounds great. more highs and little more bass. if your in the back you hear mainly the rear deck speakers but in the middle of the car you hear the new speakers.
i thought by wiring the new speakers to the rears it would make the rears not sound as good but it didnt affect it at all.
naw im just going to cut some pices to fill it in. your right i should and could make it better but im cool with it a long as it makes everything sound better. at least for now when i got some more time down the future i will redo it right.
we installed the speakers in my friends car inside the door and we threw away the covers and box so im out of luck there and noone sells 6x8 covers.
maybe ill wait in till someone kicks it and i have to buy new ones. ill get 6x9's next time. remember i got these free so. and the fabric was 40bucks a yard so dont want to buy some more, lol saving money right now before i go to school.
you right, i just wasnt planning to do the curve thing but once it was in there i was yeah i need to cover that. otherwise i would have made a template like u mentioned. remember this aint perminent i orginally wanted to do a fiberglass box but dont have the time to commit to that nor work room yet. and that box aint going no where its in there tight. its not screwed down and i wouldnt do that anyways not yet to this car.
with the speakers in for a week i noticed when turning up the volume to about 35 the highs really kick in big time. at low volume you really cant hear them and its as there not even there. but im happy with them especially now when i know they sound great at higher volumes.
For me, when driving I normally listen to around 20 and I think volume max at 65. When I really want to kick it I listen at 30 and when at park and I want quiet at times I even listen to it at 1 or 2 (really soft).
yes i do at least 30 up to 38 depending the song. i like to listen to linkin park so thats when i turn it up, if its tupac or little wayne then it goes to 30 because of the bass. the bass really hits hard in this car.
