My CD player has been acting strange lately...it used to work perfectly, but now it often will not play any CDs, and it just spits them back out or displays ERROR code...then, if i reinsert the CD, it will play just fine...i have no idea whats wrong with the CD player, but i was wondering if anyone else has had similar issues and how i could possibly remedy this issue
i have the oem JBL 6CD headunit. 2003 SE.
thanks!
I have a different problem with mine, instead of making another thread, is it OK if I just write it down here?
It's like this, sometimes the volume knob doesn't work on one song (steering wheel Vol buttons work fine), I had to skip the song and go back to the same one, then it'll work, sometimes it doesn't. So I had to skip, skip, then it'll work.
how would i cleean the lens? would i have to remove the headunit and take it apart?
i dont know too much of audio stuff beyond removing and replacing, since all we do with broken radios at work is replace them and theyre damn expensive
I think there are CD lens cleaner. Its a normal CD but underneath are little brushes. This would clean the lens.
I dont know if its my radio or dash but I hear a clicking noise. The same kind of sound when the CD changes is loading a CD of if you have a Gen 6 and the display is opening.
i got a cleaning kit from target today and cleaned the lens in my cd player...indeed it did work like a charm! cycled it through twice and it definitly improved the operation of my CD player
thanks everyone!
Since the lens cleaner works than somehow dust/dirt got into your CD head reader. If you have seen a laptop CD/DVD play tray, you would know how the head look and work. I have a feeling your CDs are dirty when you insert them in. Is it 6 discs mp3 player too like the Gen6? Anyway, a quick whip of the CD surfaces when you insert them would prevent this. Need to be dust/dirt/lint free when you insert them of cause.
+1 on the Pro list to get a new touch screen head unit.
