Front License Plate Mount

Hey guys, I know this is probably sad that I have to ask about this but oh well lol. I've done license plates on trucks with metal bumpers, but never on a fiberglass/plastic bumper like the '07 Camry's have. My main question is that when I go to drill out the two indentions there for the license plate bracket:

a) what size bit should I use
b) are there any tips, tricks, or things to look for to make sure I don't crack anything, make the paint start chipping, etc.?

thanks guys

To prevent any cracks or paint chips, I suggest putting tape (masking tape/painters tape) in the area you're drilling the hole. When you drill the hole, you'll be drilling through the tape. When you're done, you remove the tape.

As for size of bit...just choose a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the screw...drlll the hole and when you screw in the screw...let it adjust the size the hole. Or, just get a old piece of wood and try out the drill bits on there and screw the screw onto the wood and see if it fits.

Thanks guys, and sorry I missed that one. One other thing, are self-tapping screws a bad idea for this type of material?

The tape I will do, thanks- I didn't even think about that.

I bought my license plate bracket online from a Toyota dealership. It came with self-tapping screws. All it is, is a long screw. Long enough to fit through the plastic bracket and be able to reach the bumper to be screwed in.

Mine was already done at the dealer when I got it. When I put my custom plate on I noticed they are just fat short pointy wood screws. Are there any dimples in the bumper to show where the put the holes ? The main thing is to get them centered and level.
