'98 Camry squeal when first accelerate

Haven't seen this exact problem in searches . .

Automatic transmission '98 Camry, 115,000 miles. When I start up, put it into gear (forward or reverse), and press the gas, I get a loud squeal/screech for a couple to a few seconds as long as I'm depressing the gas pedal (whether at a slow roll or accelerating), which then dissipates. It is a noise somewhat similar to a power steering squeal but it is not that.

BTW, I've also noticed in the last month or so that while accelerating to highway speeds the vehicle will rev a little higher than normal before shifting up. Not sure if that's related and suggests an overall transmission issue, but any advice is much appreciated!

Have you check the belts? A slipping belt can sure may noise when under load. Both the V6 and 4L have two belts.

you posted in the wrong section. You have a gen 4, not a gen 5 or 6. The squeal is probably a lose/old accessory belt.
