30K Maintenance

Hello,
I have about 35K miles, and I just called in to get a 30K maintenance done on my 2007 Camry LE. The dealer quoted me $300 for the 30K maintenance which includes the servicing as mentioned in the service manual for the 30K service. Along with that it includes full brake inspection, fuel inspection, battery service, engine treatment and something about the rear balance (sorry not quite sure what he said). Anyways, just wanted to know from other users here if they got all those services as well for their 30K service or is it even necessary or is the dealer just adding those? Is the cost even right for all those services? Thanks.

Didn't do mine and I don't think it's needed. Most seem to be just inspecting.

I'm sure U can check the breaks yourself. If U do a lot of highway driving with little breaking than your breaks should last till over 50K.

$300 for the 30K mile servicing?!

If you search around a bit, you'll find you can do most things on your own - oil change, engine air filter, cabin air filter, etc.. and save some cash IF you are willing to do the work. If you need someone to do it for you I'm sure you could spend half as much at an independent shop.

One thing to note though is that now is the time to bring up any issues you may have with the car since you are nearing the end of your 36mo/36K bumper-to-bumper warranty..that is, if you didn't purchase an extended warranty.

I have never done "regular maintenance service" on any vehicles that i owned. I recently sold a accord with over 120k on odometer and it still was running like new.

30K maintenance at 35K miles? I'm assuming you didn't wait 10K miles from your last oil change...

If you're not quite sure what he said, how can you pass along enough information for others to give you accurate advice?

I recommend that you do the following:

1) Get all the information in writing so you can accurately analyze it.

2) See the "Newbies please read before posting!" sticky at the top of the forum. Do a search to find the information that you're looking for.

3) If you can't find the information that you need with a search, and you post enough information to help you, then start a thread asking questions.

OP ignore 2 & 3 that is how he raised his post count.

Getting everything in writing, on what they do for 30k would not be bad idea but if you decided to do 30k, i would compare with Firestone or some other shop as the price is usually much lower then what you will pat at the dealer.

Actually, if 2 & 3 were removed, my post count would be the same. You're sure a smart one.

30,000/30K services/maintenances have been covered nearly to death. Doing a search would be very easy and offers a lot of information.

Unless information is incorrect, you should stick to posting about the topic of the thread and not other people's replies.

there are stickies for a reason.....................

OP do look at 2 & 3. Theres a lot of information in those threads that might catch your attention when it comes to maintaining your vehicle. You're in one of the best forums when it comes to maintenance. You're lucky, because your car is built like a tank, and doesn't require much at 30K. Look in the stickies.

Ylen...

Thank you all for your replies and advice. I did however search on this forum before posting, and wasn't able to find many users who had done a 30K maintenance. Maybe I didn't put in correct keywords, however using "30000 maintenance" one would have thought to bring up a lot of threads. Sorry maybe I didn't search hard enough. I did mention in my post that I read through the scheduled maintenance manual, however I wanted to know about users experiences, so I guess I should have emphasized on it.

Thanks again for all your help.
