5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Summer school ended about a week ago, which meant it was time for me to start on my summer projects!
I just got these wheels on couple days ago. 18x7.5 +35 offset with 235/40-18s.
So I'm still planning on doing charcoal-housing headlights within a week but I was just bored this morning and decided to take a couple quick snapshots!
Nice! I'm not feeling the chrome trunk part. To me it feels out of place or it sticks out like a sore thumb. When I look at the trunk, first thing that catches my attention is the chrome.
I also notice that the RKSport kit is like a flat black which doesnt look like the mag grey. Plan on getting that painted. Its not really noticeable.
I actually felt the same way about the chrome on the trunk but the more and more I look at it, I'm getting used to it. Looks classy, no?
And about the lip kit.. I'm on a budget so I just installed the kit myself without getting it painted. It's okay for now since the color looks similar but yeah, somewhere down the road I should definitely get it painted!
The rims are Enkei EVO6. I used to have 19" Axis Milanos (Trojan knows hehe) but the offset on em were too low and I wanted a little more tire than rim.. so 18s it is.
I like the "sporty" theme you have with the rims. I agreed about the chrome trunk lid doesn't "fit-in" because you have the "sporty" them going on. Others than that, looking good!
Oh yeah, now lower it. Your car will look 10x better.

Really? This picture shown a huge wheel gap.
But that makes sense now with his tire size being a little small for stock.
215-60-16=26.16 inches overall diameter.
215-55-17=26.31
235-40-18=25.40
235-45-18=26.33
Compare to stock, he lost almost an inch therefore created a bigger wheel gap. For his next tires set, he should get 235-45-18.

Thanks! Installing the kit was pretty self-explanatory. The front and back go on with double-sided tape and then as an extra added security, I screwed a set of self-tapping screws on both sides of the bumper ends. Then the sideskirts replace the OEM skirts and I used a number of self-tapping screws there as well. All in all, not an impossible job to DIY.
Yes, a spoiler is going to be my next investment! Hopefully someone sells the RKsport one for cheap..... please, anyone?
And yeah, I tried having the shop install TPMS on these rims but for some reason, the air was leaking. So they had to take it off and install regular valve stems. I still have that annoying yellow exclamation light.. (which I'm sadly kinda getting used to).
My old 19s had no problem with the TPMS though.. Im thinking about talking to some professionals at Discount Tire or something.. see if they can help me out.

Ahhh thanks. Good point.
But I went through alot of research before settling with these 235/40s because I thought anything thicker than 235/40 showed too much tire and made the rims look dinky.. I personally dont like that look.
Then anything below 235/40s are just too low profile for 18s+Camry. I had em on my old car and they were perfect. But not on a Camry.
