5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
My Camry has a black dash and right now I hate how it looks. I applied Armor-All 1 month after getting the car. Drove around for a month with a greasy dash and hated it.
I washed the dash with water and then use Armor-All cleaning wipes to get the dash dull again. However, now I seem to have a random "white" spots in direct sunlight. The dash is kind of blotchy and my guess is it is left over Armor-All.
What can I apply to fix this that won't turn my dash into a mirror? Armor-All cleaning wipes and water didn't do the trick...

You may have to just experiment on a corner of the dash. Try some alcohol first on the spot and see if it lifts it. Need to find something that ArmorAll will disolve in.

In the future, use the Mother's Protectant. That stuff gives a deep black color, minus the grease. I religiously use that on all my interior plastics. The effect is excellent and it doesn't need to be-applied for a good 2-3 months.

I too have the black dash. I ordered some protectant from the dealer. They charged me 25 dollars for a gallon of concentrate. I'm sure that gallon will get me thorugh the life of the car as I only apply it every 4 months or so.
i use the old school method of washing with a damp cloth and some soapy water (joy, palmolive, etc), and i finish with aerospace 303 protectant....i found aerospace 303 when i detailed boats, as i used it to protect vinyl boat tonneau covers and such, and i also realized it works great on vehicle interiors!
I could not find 303 at any store. The Meguiars Natural made the dash look as the product title describes. It is not greasy like Armor-All and it is a low / medium gloss.
Basically, I could not find any of the products mentioned in the thread.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only old schooler around here! lol I've used numerous protectants(Armor All, Mother's, etc) through the years and now I swear by Aerospace 303. It last a long time and looks great, no greasy look/feel.

If nothing else works to clean the dash, try Meg's #39 or Einszett Plastic Vinyl Deep Cleaner. Once cleaned I agree with many here on 303 Aerospace. For more of a matt finish than 303, give Einszett Cockpit Premium Cleaner and Protectant a try. Both offer great UV protection and a nice finish to the dash.
