5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
older people like them, there was a thread like this a few weeks back about the same thing different colored camry though
I'm way older than most of the folks who participate in forums like this (grad from HS in 1979...), and when I was "young" we thought these silly things were laughable and hideous. I do remember as a kid when they were heavily pushed as original equipment by the domestic makers as some sort of "classy" styling cue. I think my distaste for the term "styling cue" is probably tied to these awful things. I can remember them being defended as being "like having a convertible" without the hassles. Good heavens no. If the roof doesn't open up, all the way, then it's absolutely NOT "like having a convertible". They were usually vinyl (as in "vinyl top"), but now, in a perverse retro touch, you occasionally see cloth-ish ones like this. Hey, if it floats the owner's boat, and he's willing to pay for it -- oh well. But no, I would not buy one.
One last thought about these atrocities:
