5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
For those of you who have done an HID retrofit. I was wondering what are the many options out there that I can use to do a retrofit other than using TSX projectors? And what kind of shrouds, ballast and bulbs did you guys used for your Camry? I have a 2005 Camry LE and I dont know which one is best. there are too many to choose.

hidplanet.com has TONS of information. I am running TSX lenses, Phillips 85122+ burners and Phillips LVQ-212 ballasts and a proper harness. You can use whatever fits in there. If you can fit a 3" lense in there you can get some bitchin optics in there. I am running a 2.5" lenses because my gen 6 already had that same size in there. Whitechoclate has done a proper retro in his gen 5 and it kicks ass. Perhaps some searching is in order. Good luck.

depends on your budget. just to give you a general idea, here are low, med and high:
1) e46 projectors are at the lower range. decent performance for a lower price... ~$100
2) TSX has excellent performance particularly for its price and availability... ~$160+
3) S2000 projectors are considered one of the best single xenon projector, but it comes at a hefty price... ~$350 for the pair.
these are only just a few examples, i highly suggest going to www.hidplanet.com and do some research.
i currently am using e46 projectors, and Phillips 85122+ bulbs and Hella LVQ-212 ballast... essentially the same as cosism except for the projectors. i'm planning to redo my headlights with TSX projectors within the next month.
as far as bulbs and ballasts... as long as you stick with OEM manufacturers, any combination of bulb and ballast will do. of course, there are difference in ballasts that may be desirable: slim, compact, separate or built in ignitors, etc. these are factors that you have to consider, and you can certainly lean more about it on hidplanet.
hope that helps!

On a related note, I ran across an ad for Hella H11 bulbs, both 55 watt and 80 watt. Anyone tried these brighter bulbs? I don't think they were particularly expensive but shorter lived.

cosism has the exact same components in his retro as I do for mine, fantastic output from TSX projectors.
Since it seems like you'll have to do a reflector housing retrofit on your Gen5, you should be able to fit up to 3" projector lenses, you have a fairly large variety to choose from of course. For single low beam applications, the TSX projectors are used by many and have great results, great projectors for the price, if you want to go up you can always try the S2K projectors as mentionted or many other high end ones like M45 projectors or LS460 ones.

Cosism, Le05 and Darsparkz,
I'm just wondering, with your list above as e46 (low), TSX (medium) and S2000 (high), would my RX330 belongs to the medium like the TSX? Just curius. Thanks guys.
Btw, I have Phillips bulbs also. The output is just amazing!!!

You made a good decision going with retrofit. Btw, if you have a V6 then I'll trade you.
Edit: Nevermind the trade-in offer, I just realized you have a Gen5.
