5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Ok I've never toyed too much with wiring before (except my sub and amp, I managed to find enough info on that) so to be safe I'm going to ask first, searches have not been too fruitful.
Basically I want to wire a small strip of LEDs on the front end of the car to be on whenever the car is on, I'm guessing that the daytime running lights are what I should wire into to achieve this.
I'd like to know which wires to attach them to and if I will need a resistor or fuse of some sort. I'm researching this and looking at my car atm, but I'd figure someone here may already know how to do this.
So you're going for the Audi looks? LED strip on the front? That'll look nice.
I think you can wire it to the high beams fuse, because that's your DRL.
You got it, I'm actually thinking same style slightly different design, as in going vertically on the inside edge of the headlight (on either side of the grille), rather than horizontally, but as it looks R8 style but on the top of the headlight assembly seems easiest.
I know someone that did that with just using 12" or 16" LED strips, and you can actually cut them at certain intervals and the circuit is still completed and still works fine. You shouldn't need any sort of resistor if they can hook up directly to your DRL sockets. The hardest part is just mounting them correctly, since in the Gen6, we don't have much of an area in the front of the headlamp that has space for an LED strip, the seperate beam housings are divided by the headlamp itself, meaning the low beam, high bea, and DRL is all divided into compartments.
This is an example of what we did on a friend's Accord with a 16" LED strip cut into a 12" strip.
Not exactly my tastes, but he wanted them, similar to how I'm against BMW Angel Eyes on other cars, lol.

Ricers...all you need now is some naws, fire extinguisher, double-stack wing and fart can.
Gen 6 is a fine car, and only the most tasteful upgrades are worthy.
Not to bash your idea or anything or offend anyone here...just my $0.02
The DRL's only run at about 6v. This will probably not yield very bright LED's.

ORANGE BANG! I'm going to keep saying that after u post centennial
If you are going to go this route, LED shouldn't be straight line like the accord. It should be shaped at the bottom of the headlight, following smoothly with the shape of the headlight

all depends on the company. Higher quality HID bulbs start turning blue at lower kelvins in my experience. on some crappy HID, 8000K is purple. In better ones like the xenondepot, 8000K is blue.

I swear to God ...
I don't know of any place in Riverside but if you're ever in Corona hit up Miguel Jr's. They have O-Bang on tap. Their bean and cheese burritos are cheap in price but good. The Hat at Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga has it on tap as well.
