5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have a set of Sport Edition, 18x8 , 45 offset that were on my wifes Honda Accord and she longer has that car so I'm considering putting these on my SE for the mean time until I can afford something bigger, my question is what tire size should I get to the the flush look and also fill the gap as best as possible with TRD Springs that I'll be installing this Sunday. Now before you go telling to do a search for the measuring system that is on the sticky, know that I've gone there and came up with these #'s so my question really is, does this seem like the correct setup for what I'm looking for.
Stock = 215-55-17
Upgrade = 225-45-18
This is based on the fact I'm only losing 0.8mph on speedo and 1.3% fast, which I can live with.

sweet thanks man, I haven't purchased enough rims in my life time to know these things yet off hand, so with the 45 offset the rims won't be tucked in correct? that's what I don't want, I want it as close to the line of the wheel well if not a tad bit farther

tucked in just a tad bit. +35 would've been a lot better and flush.

ah damn, o well I can't really bitch seeing how it's a free upgrade, thanks again, I'll post picks once the dropped/alignment and rims are on. Any recommendations on brand, I know some have nice flat walls and some bubble out, I'd like something flat or smooth looking.

I already have the TRD Springs in my garage, I'm installing it with help from my Bro-InLaw on Sunday, but I hoping I don't make the mistake of buying the wrong size tires or type of tire that will make the wheels look ugly. To be honest with ya, I concerned with the size 45 over 40 because the two time I had 18's I always had 40 series low profiles cause they look good, I'm wondering if going 45 will make the wheels look like 17" instead of 18" but then I want the gap to close cause I know just putting the TRD's isn't enough of a drop to make that gap go away, but i didn't want to go to low where I have to start getting camber kits and such.
O and the rims are Sport Edition E1's, they should look good with the car cause the almost have the same lines as the Stock SE only 5 Spoke and 18"

If you want to fill the gap between the wheel fender and the tires, I would recommend 235-45-18 as it is the closest to stock overall diameter.
215-55-17=26.31 overall diameter.
225-45-18=25.97
235-45-18=26.33
As far as brand, for the best value I would get those Kumho Ecsta SPT.

225-50-18 are within spec as well. If I decide to change my wheels, I will be going for that size to close up the little space left after my TRD springs drop.
Lammydi - Thanks, they were right about you having the knowledge when it comes to this, ok so the 235 will fit my rims and not to much excess tire bubbling over the rim?
GooBee - Your car actually looks good with those 17" wheels and you just gave me an idea of what my car would look, so thanks, but I don't think I'll be going 50series cause that would just not look good for my taste, I'd rather go wider then thicker at this point.

225-50-18 would work because he has 18x8 +45 offset. But becareful because I had 18x8 +35 and it rubs with 225-50-18 going over those humps/bumps. Hence, I just upgraded 2 brand new 235-45-18 Kumho Ecsta SPT. No more annoyed rubbing issues.

235-45-18 would fit your 18x8 +45 offset perfectly.
