Ugraded to 07 Camry rims, now have a problem
I have a 2003 Camry LE 4 cyl with stock 15" steel rims. (Actually mom's car.) I got the bright idea to be a good son and buy her a brand new set of 16" aluminum rims and tires from a 2007 Camry; got new lug nuts too. Here's the problem: when stopping there is a clunk from the rotor. I've noticed that the lug bolts are 12mm and that the bolt holes in the rotor are 14mm; therefore leaving 2mm of "slop". When applying the brakes, the rotor stops, but the hub and rim move the 2mm and cause the "clunk". When torqueing the lug nuts, I started at 80ft/lbs and have gone up to 105ft/lbs -- same problem. The lug nuts are a slip fit; no slop. I didn't have this problem with the steel rims, but do with the factory aluminum rims.
I think the problem could be resolved with rotors with 12mm holes. However, I haven't had any success finding any, but does anyone know of a manufacturer of such?
Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance.
