5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I know a few of these were brought up before back in the Altezza Argument thread, but...
I was bored tonight, googled around a bit, and came across some newly available pics for what the lights for the Gen5 (2002, 2003, 2004) that will be going to manufacture will look like.
They're priced pretty high for what they are... but any opinions from others on these?
* * *
Don't really like this kind, personally... Never really have liked these.

I think these look a bit better... I think it really only would match a white/silver car, though.

I'd probably like these ones on a darker car... black, or maybe aspen green. Guess I'd have to whip out Photoshop and see what it would look like... or maybe if the housing could be pulled out and painted to match the car's color... but just flat-black ABS-like plastic would look kinda lame.
Opinions on these, anyone? Too ricey? I know I'm sure not paying $300 for a pair of them, but it's nice to see some options finally...
Yea...leave them stock, or you can be the first and import the Asian market's Camry trunk andlight assembly. Looks pretty good, like the current generation BMW 3 series rear end with the reverse lights on the trunk.
Gen 5 - 2002 Phantom Gray Pearl Camry V6 LE:
-TRD Rear Sway Bar
-SE Model Strut Tower Bar
-Borla Exhaust
-Injen Intake
-Sportivo Grille
-TRD Lowering Springs (sitting in my room waiting to be installed)
Stock looks much better, IMO. The Altezza looks slightly better than the InProCarWear. The InProCarWear looks like fingers to me.
Too bad Toyota has inserted an orange cap inside the turn signal section of the tail lights giving off the "egg yoke" effect. Otherwise, some silver bulbs would easily solve the "egg yoke" or silver painted amber bulbs.

The dark ones would look ok on a black car, but I don't really like the finger shape. For now if I were you I would stick with stock. There has got to be something better in the pipe somewhere.

Thought about doing that... only concern is the wiring, as that would have to run in the wire loom and be spliced into the lead for the parking lights...
I do have to admit that it does look damn nice, though... makes me wanna go to Taiwan and rip off someone's trunk lid
I do like the Gen5's stock lights. But as many know, that friggin' amber colored cap in the tails is a bit of an annoyance.... the plan once I finish my stereo/electronic install this winter is to start showing a little semi-locally, and I've already started picking up some other purely-show parts... Just need to find something else to stand out. The only people who show cars in this area drive Civic, Integras, and Accords.
These lights were just a (pretty far-fetched) consideration. The only one I could even REMOTELY deal with would probably be the last one, with the black housing... and the shape is really a bit odd. Plus I would probably be a dork and paint the black to match the color of the car, or a graphite grey/gunmetal color...
I'm thinkin about blackin out my gen 5 tailights with some kind of spray, lol i can't rmember what it's called, but do u guys think i should black out the whoel thing or leave the backup lights clear?
having the black tail light would look good and kinda mean in my opinion. but having the whole tail lights clear would be nice and clean looking. i like to see that and plus you can add a different color bulb like the silver bulb or the bulb that flashes white... but i sure would like to see how the clear tail light would look like and see how it's done. :p
woah sman...where'd u find those... i'm kinda on the edge with likin those 3D type tailights...but i think it would look pretty cool to paint the housing to match ur car.....everything looks good in black
